Bulgarian Split Squat

Why This Exercise
Arguably the most important single-leg exercise in all of strength and conditioning. It eliminates left-to-right strength imbalances and builds bulletproof hip stability, required to change direction (cut) at max speed without losing momentum
Coaching Cues
- Use a chair or another elevated surface to place your leg on.
- If you want to add weight, load a backpack with heavy books or large water bottles and secure it tightly to your chest or back. Alternatively, hold the weight in one hand.
- Move like an elevator, not an escalator. Drop your body straight down toward the floor rather than sliding forward over your toes, and let your chest lean slightly over the front knee.
