Bulgarian Split Squat

Why This Exercise
Arguably the best exercise for translating gym strength into on-pitch performance. It is a popular choice among performance coaches because it builds brutal single-leg strength while forcing you to stabilize your knee, hip, and ankle—exactly replicating the physical demands of rapid changes of direction and high-speed duels.
Coaching Cues
- Keep the vast majority of your weight and pressure through the front foot.
- Keep your torso and hips stable; avoid shifting or twisting side to side.
- Let your front knee travel naturally forward in line with your foot.
