FALLING START ACCELERATION

Reps
1 × 10 m
How It Works
- Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, then gradually lean your entire body forward from the ankles. Continue leaning until you naturally have to step forward to prevent yourself from falling.
- As soon as you take the first step, accelerate aggressively through 10 m.
- Build speed progressively rather than trying to reach an upright sprint position immediately.
Match Situation
A falling start teaches you to use your body position to create forward momentum before the first step. This is useful when you need to quickly attack open space after receiving a pass or react to a loose ball before an opponent can close you down.
Coaching Cues
- Lean from the ankles, not the waist.
- Attack the ground behind you.
- Drive aggressively through the first step.
- Keep your torso naturally inclined early.
- Build speed smoothly through 10 m.
