Russian Twist

Why This Exercise
Rotational core strength is a non-negotiable for elite football players. This exercise is a popular choice for developing the obliques and the ability to transfer force through your torso—exactly what happens when you strike a ball with power, twist rapidly to change direction, or grapple with a defender.
Coaching Cues
- Keep your chest up and your spine long, avoiding a hunched or rounded back.
- Rotate strictly from your torso, not just by swinging your arms side to side.
- Keep your legs and hips as still as possible to maximize the tension in your core.
