This exercise builds: 300 Touches
How It Works
  1. Place 10 cones in a zig-zag pattern.
  2. Start with the first cone, then place the second cone 2 metres diagonally to the left.
  3. Place the third cone 1.5 metres directly forward from the starting cone. The second cone should sit halfway between the starting cone and the third cone in height.
  4. Continue this same pattern with the remaining cones, alternating between 2 metres diagonally to the side and 1.5 metres directly forward.
  5. Start with the ball at the first cone and dribble through the entire pattern using only your right foot.
  6. Once you reach the final cone, turn around and dribble back through the same pattern using only your left foot.
  7. Complete the full course there and back before resting.
Coaching Cues
  • Keep the ball close and under control with small, precise touches.
  • Use the inside and outside of your foot to smoothly change direction around each cone.
  • Stay light on your feet and balanced so you can quickly move into the next direction.
Progression
  • Increase your dribbling speed while maintaining close control.
  • Look up and scan your surroundings more frequently instead of constantly watching the ball.
  • Challenge yourself to complete the course as quickly as possible without losing control.
